This year, I’m a part of “Caroline’s Court” , which is essentially a group of ambassadors for the nonprofit, Kidd’s Kids. If you’ve watched me on the news, you’ve likely seen the multiple highlights that have been done on this remarkable organization. If you haven’t — Kidd’s Kids sends children and teens with terminal and life-altering conditions on a trip to Walt Disney World! They’re truly changing lives and I believe it is a cause EVERYONE can get behind and support.
Earlier this month, I got a chance to visit one of the strong supporters of Kidd’s Kids, Enchanted Fairies. What an experience! I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this spot. (They’re at the Shops at Willow Bend in Plano.) Basically, they turn a portrait session into a full-on magical experience for the kids (and parents!)
When I visited, I got to see a session through the eyes of some special Kidd’s Kids clients. They were transformed into fairies, princes and princesses! The children got a private dressing room, glam session, red carpet walk and finally — a photo shoot! If you’re a parent, you know it is basically impossible to get an active kiddo to look at the camera or pose for a shot. Despite all the magic of the session — I was most impressed by their ability to just let the kids have FUN while capturing the most incredible images.
My mom and I actually ended up taking Brighton in for a session and I’ll get the pics back in a couple of weeks — so I’ll be sure to show you on Instagram. Here’s a little shot of her in the dressing room! (I warned them that she’s a “runner” but they kept her so entertained — she had no problem! It really was a miracle – I was totally taking notes to get their photo techniques. The photographer clearly has a gift for engaging with children!) I wonder if they’ll come over to babysit…
I did share the “behind the scenes” of this experience on Instagram and many of you wanted the deets, so I figured I should do a full blog post on it. Basically, Enchanted Fairies is donating 100% of the session fees to Kidd’s Kids. This is no small donation — since 2014, they’ve donated more than $450,000 through the session fees and a calendar contest. (If you end up going – you totally have to enter your child in the calendar contest. So fun.)
Anyway — these are just my iPhone pics — can’t wait to show you the professional images of Brighton when we get them back! If you want more info on booking a session or getting into the calendar contest, click here.
OHhhhh and before I forget — I need you to save the date for the Krewe de Kidds Gala. March 2nd. It’s going to be a total blast. Info is here! (And of course, it benefits Kidd’s Kids!) xoxo
